History

Since 2002 the Golf Marathon has organized six biannual golf marathon events and has raised and distributed over $180,000 to organizations including Hope For The Warriors, Feeding America, The Jimmy V Foundation, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Larger Than Life and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Here is a brief history of how we become the Golf Marathon Foundation:

In the summer of 2002, Greg Ismach and Ross Feldman played the first 100 Hole Golf Marathon on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and raised $10,000 to send a terminally ill child and his family to Hawaii.

Samuel Lissner and Remy Sloan joined the group a year later, and helped raise over $60,000 in successive events that benefited the One Family Fund (2004), Larger Than Life (2005) and The Simon Wiesenthal New York Tolerance Center (2005).

The 4th 100 Hole Golf Marathon was played in summer 2006, when the foursome was joined by Eliese Lissner, Michael Rak, Josh Spellman, Jeff Lazarus and Jason Rak. The efforts of the 9-person group at Edgewood Country Club were fortified by players at multiple satellite events around the country. Together, the participants raised $40,000 for the Jimmy V Foundation and The First Tee.

In 2010, twenty-five participants in the fifth 100-Hole Golf Marathon, ages 11-55, raised over $40,000 for Feeding America and receivedcorporate sponsorships from Arnold Palmer Enterprises, Inc.,TaylorMade and PepsiCo.

In August 2012, the newly-formed Golf Marathon Foundation, Inc organized its sixth 100-Hole Golf Marathon to raise money for Hope For The Warriors®. Fifteen players from the golf marathon group, ages 14-65, led an effort to support U.S. service members who have been injured while fighting for our country and raised nearly $30,000. The mission of Hope For The Warriors is to enhance the quality of life for U.S. service members and their families who have been adversely affected by injuries or death in service of our country.
